New Year, New Designs
Alternates, here we come!
After the NFL dropped the one-helmet rule, it’s been expected that teams will release new alternates or bring back some classic throwbacks. If you have not heard about the NFL breaking this rule, read about it here. For the first time in nearly a decade, teams can wear a second helmet on the field!
Who is changing things up?

This was the first helmet worn by the Falcons, all the way back in 1966. This design held a lot of significance to the residents of Georgia. The decision to wear red and black was inspired by one of Georgia’s largest college teams: the Georgia Bulldogs. The gold stripe on the center tributed to fans of Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
Making a big change
The New Orleans Saints have stuck with their gold helmet for the entire history of the franchise. A black version of their helmet was only brought out once during the 1969 preseason.
The preseason helmet featured solid center stripes in gold and white, and the team wore grey facemasks. This helmet was never seen during a regular-season game.
Fleurs and Stripes
The New Orleans Saints have announced that they will be wearing an alternate helmet this year. The helmet is black with gold logo and number decals, and features a print-designed, pointed stripe covered in fleur-de-lises.

It has not been announced when we’ll see it on the field, but we should expect it sometime this season. It is expected that almost half of the NFL league will be revealing alternate helmets this year! What team do you want to see a change from?
